Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy cancer surgery is performed on women diagnosed with cervical cancer. It is recommended for women in the early stage, i.e. Stage 2 of cervical cancer, which doesn't include lymph node metastases. Physicians strictly recommend women undergo radical hysterectomy when they diagnose the early stage of tumors in the cervix.
Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy procedure:
- Patients are first given anesthesia
- Then doctors make an incision right below the umbilicus. The incision is typically around 2cm to 3cm.
- Finally, the tumor was removed from the cervix using the laparoscopic method.
The entire process is termed a radical laparoscopic hysterectomy for the Uterine.
Cervix Cancer
This cancer type affects the female reproductive system's cervix, the organ joining the Vagina. Before cancer, the cervix develops abnormalities, i.e. dysplasia that causes cancerous cell generation. As a result, the cancerous cells target the cervix and its nearby organs.
The types of cervix cancer are:
- Squamous cell carcinoma: Cancer developing from ectocervix
- Adenocarcinoma: Cancer that has spread to the nearby cells and tissues.
Doctors put patients on medications and treatment once they are diagnosed with cancer.
